L’articolo esplora il ruolo della relazione generativa nella cura oncologica, evidenziando l’importanza di integrare la dimensione tecnico-scientifica (“fare la cura”) con quella relazionale ed esistenziale (“prendersi cura”). La diagnosi oncologica è descritta come un terremoto esistenziale che frattura la biografia del paziente, generando crisi e disorientamento. Per affrontare questa sfida, si propone un modello di medicina basato sull’antropologia relazionale, che pone il paziente al centro di una rete di significati e connessioni, trasformando la malattia in un’esperienza generativa. Attraverso evidenze scientifiche, viene dimostrato che fattori come resilienza, spiritualità ed empatia influenzano positivamente gli esiti clinici e la qualità della vita. L’arte e la natura sono identificate come strumenti fondamentali per attivare risorse interiori nei pazienti, favorendo una narrazione esistenziale di continuità e trasformazione. La metafora del kintsugi viene utilizzata per valorizzare la fragilità come parte della bellezza e del significato della vita. L’articolo esplora inoltre la sostenibilità della relazione generativa nei contesti di cura, con esempi concreti come Gemelli.ART e Isola.ART, oltre all’integrazione dell’arte nei corsi di medicina. Si propone una nuova visione dell’educazione medica che vada oltre la competenza tecnico-scientifica, includendo la dimensione simbolica e relazionale della cura. In questa prospettiva, la cura oncologica non è solo una risposta al dolore, ma diventa un processo trasformativo che restituisce alla medicina il suo ruolo originario di pratica generativa e umanizzante.
