L'introduzione della medicina potenziativa nel nuovo codice di deontologia medica

La nuova edizione del Codice di Deontologia Medica presenta un articolo inedito dedicato alla medicina potenziativa. Tal evenienza pone l'occasione di svolgere una riflessione in merito alla relazione fra questa nuova forma di medicina, che possiamo ricondurre al più ampio dibattito relativo allo human enhancement, e la deontologia medica: se da un lato l'inserimento nel Codice dell'articolo sulla medicina potenziativa va ad ammettere un utilizzo di trattamenti medici anche oltre il consueto obbiettivo terapeutico, a patto che alcuni criteri etici e clinici vengano rispettati, dall'altro la problematicità di questi criteri rispetto l'enhancement costituisce una fonte di ambiguità che richiede un'adeguata riflessione.

The last version of the Italian Code of Medical Ethics has included a new article dedicated to the human enhancement. The article would intend to reflect about the relation between this new field of medical practice and professional ethics. On the one hand, the inclusion of the article in the Code allows medical treatments beyond the usual therapeutic goals, as long as some ethical and clinical criteria are met. However, the problematic application of these criteria to the enhancement treatments raises some issues, that have already emerged in theoretical debate on human enhancement, which requires an adequate reflection.
