The recovery of the ethical dimension of the medical profession is urgently becoming more necessary. In addition, the understanding that the person who makes choices and actualizes the good is always the "person" in the singularity of their real cognitive and emotional situation. As a matter of fact, rationality and emotionality contribute to the formation of the practical moral conscience, that is, the personal conviction of the subject which is then interpreted in a concrete behavior. A clinical ethics which develops around the virtue of the doctor has the advantage of recognizing the important component of moral experience, the value of the individual doctor's orientation toward the good and of developing the quality of the person which, in a stable and ever more agile capacity consents to the morally correct action within the individual concrete situations. The ethical virtues of the doctor are the final guarantee that the good of the patient will be respected. In this paper document, can be found a general outline of the notion of "virtue ethics" and their role within the dynamics of action. This is followed by an analysis of each of the four Cardinal virtues: prudence, justice, fortitude and temperance. The nature and relevant characteristics of each virtue will be brought to light briefly in order to then further develop certain exemplary elements destined to illustrate the necessity and the possibility of living out the virtues in each frequent medical situation.
