The article presents the case of a male neonate, born from a triplet pregnancy obtained by heterologous assisted reproduction (AR). A rarely fatal but widespread disease (Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency), together with the lack of knowledge about parental status (due to secrecy and anonymity of gametes donor) led, in a fast succession of clinical events, to the unavoidable insurgence of kernicterus in the newborn. The Authors discuss the problems deriving from donor secrecy and anonymity in view of their possible consequences for the cure of neonates born from heterologous AR.
