L’articolo intende offrire un contributo al dibattito bioetico relativo all’idronutrizione di pazienti in Stato Vegetativo Persistente (SVP). Dapprima si esporrà la condizione clinica dello stato vegetativo (SV), oggi denominato anche Sindrome di Veglia Aresponsiva (SVA), per poi indagare il valore della vita umana. In seguito si avanzerà il discernimento bioetico adottando un metodo tripartito, che valuta l’appropriatezza clinica e gli elementi “soggettivi” (paziente), in base a cui operare la valutazione etica integrata e derivarne decisione operative.
