The French express this anthropological fact with the verb tomber attributed to illness. The sick person is also the one who falls from a vertical to a horizontal position, and this causes him a reversal of perspectives and points of reference (just as happens, on a moral level, with the fall due to sin): the relationship top-bottom, front-back, etc. changes.
